Meals Overview
All of our meals are prepared in our state of the art kitchen in our Ballard Green facility. We take great pride in the meals we prepare, ensuring they are not only nutritionally balanced but tasty and well presented.
Meals are prepared and delivered every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Clients may choose both lunch and dinner up to seven days per week. Most of our clients receive meals three, five or seven days a week. Some receive both lunch and dinner while some only lunch and even fewer lunch only. The number of meals a client needs depends on his or her situation.
All of our meals are packed in containers that allow the client to store (freeze or refrigerate) the meals until they are needed. If a client would like meals for the weekend, then they will be delivered on Friday; if Friday meals are also included then three lunches and three dinners would be delivered. All of our meal containers are labeled with both a “use by date” and a description of the meal. Meals are typically delivered to the client’s home by noon.
All of our menus are planned using the USDA food pyramid to ensure each one is nutritionally balanced. Most of our recipes come from an industry standard cookbook, Food for 50; we also like to modify (i.e., greatly increase the serving capacity) some of our favorite family recipes. We also take the season in mind when preparing our menus. For example, in the warm summer months we tend to favor lighter fare and more fresh fruit and vegetables while in the winter months we turn to hearty soups and stews.
All of our dinners include a juice or soup (depending on the season), hot entrée, vegetable, starch (if appropriate), roll, milk and dessert or fresh fruit. Lunches are a cold meal and include a fruit cup, salad and sandwich. Please click here to view sample menus.
