How Our Program Works

How Our Program Works

Eligibility

We serve any Ridgefield resident unable to prepare their own meals due to age, disability, or illness. We also provide meals on a short-term basis to those who are recovering from surgery or illness. There are no restrictions based on age or income.

Cost

Thanks to our generous community, all meals are now provided free of charge. This important step was made possible by the support of our donors.

Delivery

Volunteers deliver meals on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings generally between 10:30am – 12:00pm.

Clients can choose to greet our driver or have a cooler available where we will place the food if you are unable to get to the door or will be out during our delivery time.

More Than
Just A Meal

Our friendly volunteers not only provide meals but also bring smiles and a welcome check-in. This is more than just a meal delivery service — it’s a lifeline for those in our community who need it most, offering additional benefits such as:

SOCIAL CONNECTION

A knock at the door might not seem like a big deal to many of us. But, to a homebound senior, it could signal the arrival of the only person they might see that day.

CHECK-IN

A visit from Meals on Wheels delivers more than just nourishment. While delivering meals, our volunteer drivers also provide a quick check-in.

HOLIDAY MEALS

We love celebrating holidays with our clients by serving delicious, festive meals. Examples include:

  • Filet mignon, scalloped potatoes, shrimp cocktail for Christmas
  • Turkey for Thanksgiving
  • Lamb for Easter
  • Corned beef on St. Patrick’s Day
  • Cheeseburgers on the 4th of July

SPECIAL TOUCHES

Our clients are deeply valued, and we go the extra mile to show it:

  • Birthday gift bags
  • Holiday gifts from the community
  • Decorated lunch bags made by volunteers and school children
  • Emergency food bags distributed before winter begins
